Re: What book are you reading now...

Bought a new book yesterday: "Feldpost from Stalingrad"- 1942-1943

So far a very good read.

And "The Waffen SS at the eastern Front"

@Tom: There are even some pictures form the 6th SS Nord in it.

Re: What book are you reading now...

This book has absolutely nothing to do with WWII, but The Devil in the White City is about the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago. I never knew it, but there was a serial killer active there!

Really? I believe that I have most of the known Nord photos in my copy of Gebirgsjäger in Bild. You wouldn't happen to know if any of yours are new?

Re: What book are you reading now...

There are loads of pictures in this book. Mostly from "Das Reich", "Leibstandarte" and "Totenkopf". But the book claims to include never before seen pictures. I'll try to scan the pictures, then you can see for yourself.

Vielen danke, Klaus! However, don't put yourself out on my account. If you have nothing better to do, okay.

Re: What book are you reading now...

currently The 12th SS, by Hubert Meyer.

I also managed to get a used copy of "God, Honour, Fatherland - A photo history of Panzergrenadier Division 'Grossdeutschland' for only 31 US off Amazon. To think that poor Tom spent 75 US on it as he said on his book review of it....

Klaus, is the book you are talking about by Christopher Ailsby? I have heard something along the title before. Look forward to seeing your 6. SS Gerbisjaeger Division 'Nord' pics, thanks kamerad!

Looking forward to Tom's book on Nord! joking

Regards,

K

Re: What book are you reading now...

I'm taking a short break from WW2 -- sort of... I'm currently reading The Arms of Krupp by William Manchest (yes, my favorite author). While the first half of the book deals with WW1 and before, it does get into WW2 later. So I suppose as I get into later portions of this book, I'll be back in my regular WW2 reading again
