Re: What book are you reading now...

Well, I was reading Flags of Our Fathers, but I got about 2/3 of the way through and discovered my copy is defective! A block of pages was mis-bound, so I went from page 135 (or so) back to 80-something! Photos and all, the whole block was duplicated!

However, I have back up. Wednesday, our library was having a book sale. I paid $10 to become a "Friend of the Library," and got to fill a shopping back with books. I was a little short on time, but I ended up with 19 books, and one videotape for my son. Hey, at $0.50 a book, I'll load up on Cussler and Griffith any day!!!

Too bad about the book but good deal that you wound up with. I imagine the publisher would replace it since it's defective, if it's a copy that you own.

I just finished "At Leningrads Gates" so now I await "IN THE FIRE OF THE EASTERN FRONT: The Experiences Of A Dutch Waffen-SS Volunteer On The Eastern Front 1941-45"

Looking back through this, I forgot I need to replace FOUF! Gotta get on that! My only excuse is lots of overtime lately...

However, right now I'm working on Frontfighters, which is Merriam-Press' new release of Richard Landwehr's book on the Norwegian SS.

Re: What book are you reading now...

Tom, I look forward to your review of Frontfighters ("hint hint", hehe).

Right now I'm about 1/3 way into David Irving's Rommel biography. It's very detailed and enjoyable thus far, I'm keeping it in mind that Irving's stuff should be taken in with a grain of salt, though...

Re: What book are you reading now...

oooooo! I just picked up "Death o the Leaping Horseman" and "Island of fire". I've been considering these for some time but the price made me hesitant. But I've never come across a bad review ANYWHERE! Pretty excited about these.

Re: What book are you reading now...

I am now reading With the Old Breed by Eugene B. Sledge. About half way through so far, must say it's an awesome account of Peleliu by a US Marine who had fought through the toughest parts. I can't wait to get to the second half of the book on the fighting on Okinawa.

My friend Bryan had reviewed the book for my website back in July 2005. He gave it excellent reviews as well:
WW2DB: With the Old Breed-At Peleliu and Okinawa

Even though I didn't finish it quite yet, I already highly recommend it.
