So, how sick are 'ya?

OK, I'm home sick today, so take the following into perspective on my situation! I want to know how truly disturbed you all are out there (along with me, of course!).

THE SETUP:

You get that new game back home, either from your victory purchase at the toy store, or having finally just been delivered by those happy young men in their fine brown suits in their nice brown trucks. With a certain amount of glee and excitement, you tear off the plastic wrapping, and hold in your trembling mitts a prestine box 'o goodies! A new game!!! This is where the sick, compulsive things comes into play. My wife know's this is coming every time, and stares in a fair bit of amusement (and probably a tad in horor that she hitched her glorious wagon to this deranged mule). You clutch gingerly to the sides of the box, and slowly raise the lid like an Archaeologist at the revered site of a big dig, listening with joy as the box lid creaks and groans in protest at being awakened from it's long sleep; knowing that the contents are about to reveal themslves to light not seen in quite a long time.

THE QUESTION:

Do you sniff the glorious air previously held trapped in the confines of that freshly opened box?

No, this is a serious question! Another gamer (I'll spare him the embarassment of dragging him down this self introspective admission) at this site brought up the point that he "...loves the smell of carboard in the morning"...a symbolic muse, granted, but I'm sure with a hint at real life admiration of boardgames! I love the smell of a new game, and it's like openning a box of chocolates...the aroma is also to be savored.

It's probably at this point that Jim O will be asking me to depart my Moderator's duties in horror, so I bid you all adieu!

Re: So, how sick are 'ya?

My wifes school has an old printer that prints out in blue ink, the smell is
just bizzar, it smells really good.

I never smell the boxed stuff shipped, you never know what type of air
they throw in those things?

Jim, Thanks buddy, glad to not be shown the door, LOL!

TRDG, Panzer Grenadier's AIRBORNE was my last snifferoo! Sweeter than Honey! Dice rolls are sent in, and the plans look great! Feelin' a little wonky still...may be staying home from work again tomorrow, which isn't entirely a BAD thing!

LT, yeah I think I remember that blue ink...kinda sweet and sour smelling?

Re: So, how sick are 'ya?

I just had to put down my vote as a sniffer. I'm not a great wargamer but I'm a modeller n' a collector (a modeller that buys more than he possible can build), n' that includes pookin' 'round in kits you'll never be able to build just to shut 'em up again thinkin' "this will be a great build".
