You know the only thing I want as bad as a 98k is an '03 Springfield.... or an M-1 Garand .... or an M-14..... probably better off with the '03, burn up less ammo with that one! Dave |

Re: Original WWII Mauser Kar 98k rifles for sale
Be careful with the Mitchell's Mausers....Many of them are Postwar M48's (Be SURE to read before you buy. Many of the M48's were made from leftover German parts and some new Machined parts.....but they are not WW2 veteran guns. And from a few folks I know that have them...they say they are substandard to the Wartime Rifles....but that again, is just opinion...I have never owned one so I am going by hearsay) They do have a great collection of Wartime Mausers.....but they like to "Refurbish" them. All depends on which one you want. Personally I like my WW2 guns to have the "Patina" of age and to look like the old vets they are. You may want the New look, and Mitchell's does a Fantastic Job on that...

Re: Original WWII Mauser Kar 98k rifles for sale
Yeah Mitchells tends to play fast and loose with thier descriptions. Even thier collectors grade all matching bla, bla bla, are thier refurbishments. Not a problem if described as such and priced right but for the money they want I would get a vet bring back anyday. Heck I would even rather have a RUssian capture as that is part of the history of the rifle.
Nothing wrong with the M48's they are nice and accurate but you can get a collectors kit with a basically new rifle and all the accesories for a LOT less than what Mitchells sells them for.
