Re: The Call of Duty for Collectors!

These are GEV 88's. (1890-1891) Strictly wall hangers. As you can see, these are before pics. I stripped them down and re blued the metal as best I could and stained the stocks. There were some cracks etc. but a little wood glue and clamps did the trick.

And this is after. I thought I'd make a lamp with one of them.

We're looking forward to it!

Like a lot of other things, this is not that hard, once you know how to do it.

Anything I can help you with, don't be afraid to drop me a PM.

Re: The Call of Duty for Collectors!

Thanks. I guess it took me long enough. Now lets hope it doesn't seep out from between my ears.

Re: The Call of Duty for Collectors!

Nice work gents. The helmet is excellent. The rifle is in excellent condition Waffle. We aren't allowed to have weapons like that here in Oz, even if they don't work. I know of one person who had a Woodpecker MG which had been in the ocean for years. One side was literally gone (lengthwise). He still wasn't allowed to keep it.

Some of my collection

All:

I have a massive collection of WWII stuff (and stuff from other eras as well)....so I'll show some of it... This is an early war, fixed bale, front seam "no kidding" medics helmet that I acquired almost 20 years ago, long before ebay and other crooks made 'painted' helmets suspect. The added bonus to this one is the early "Hawley" liner that is original to the pot itself. I found it in an antique mall full of furniture. Sadly, don't have any history of the owner. And I won't make you sob by telling you what I paid for it.

Hope you enjoy it!

Jason

Re: The Call of Duty for Collectors!

I'll try one more, as there really doesn't seem to be much interest in this particular thread. This is my Nagant 7.62. The above is my P-38. Both WW2 vintage. The codes and markings book is obviously recent.
