From Mission Models, a 1/35 scale kit of the 80cm rail gun Dora.
The finished model is over 53 inches long, 8 inches wide, and 13 inches tall and weighs 57 pounds. The barrel is over 26 inches long. The kit has over 2500 parts. And yes, you can buy an aluminum barrel for it.

I need to get it soon, because it will take me the rest of my natural life to build it.
Holy Krupp, Batman! That's one hell of a model!

But of course, like all things, you can't compare to the Yamato. And in this case, I'm referring to the 1:10 scale Yamato model at the Yamato Museum in Kure, Japan:

Now *that* is a career!

Actually, that was in the plans until my little "health episode".

Razorboy, Aussie Dave and myself are in competition to build the best hobby room.

Aussie Dave is in the lead because:

A-His is completed.
B-He has everything in it except a sauna!

Post some pics you guys.

Re: Modeling News & New Kits

Ah, so were having a peeing contest to see who can build the best hobby room hey?

Okay guys, here it is again so others can see what you're talking about.

I first had to insulate and line my Hobby shed.

Next I painted the walls, installed the ceiling supports and also installed better lighting.

I had a R/C Air Con Split System installed and bought a bar fridge for it.

This is my home computer desk were I post from inside the shed.

My hobby desk inside the shed.

I have a 80cm TV to watch while doing some model building or on the computer.

Or I can relax and lounge around on the couch and just watch TV.

I've finished the ceiling and also put up plenty of shelving, not to mention hung a few more picture up since these pics were taken, but haven't photographed inside of the shed with them in it.

Cheers,
Dave

I am still in awe, Dave.

We can expect Razorboy's entry anytime now.
