Perhaps you could get a nice damaged one out of it Geek. The pics attached are different as this happened when they were testing the central float but unfortunately the engine sort of fell of and everything caught fire. The after picture would be an interesting scene with a model maybe.

Man...I'm laughing out loud looking at those pics. Best chuckle all day, thanks.

I thought you might appreciate that one. Must have been embarrassing for the designers.

Mate that was funny.
'...the engine sort of fell off and everything caught fire.' Fantastic! Great pics too BTW, I've never seen them before.

Did they ever go into production with a Centre float 196? I've only seen the one with twin floats as a production model.

I don't think the central float went into production...I've never seen this variation before in my reading...of course that doesn't prove a thing. From your pics, it looks like an engine mount problem. The swastika tail insignia looks decidedly 'pre-war' too. Mid thirties Lufthansa aircraft sported the then German flag like that as well. I'm reminded of the Mitsubishi 'Rufe' which was basically a Zero with a float tacked on. My kit is an A-4...meaning there were three versions before it. But even small changes (radios, armament, engine...you name it) constituted different 'versions' and not all neccessarily were production versions. In truth, I don't know very much about this aircraft. My references on it are pretty spartan. It's not one of the 'sexy' WW2 types.
