Re: Group Build 6 month- open class (9-1-08)
Hmmm wish I had something but with my F/A-18 I will be tied up with that... I might however start getting into Flames of War and may buy some things to start doing GD and can show off a platoon of tanks... if I get them done.

Like the other group build, there will be a US$25 Amazon.com gift certificate (or equivalent in another currency and site) for the winner!

Re: Group Build 6 month- open class (9-1-08)
I'm in!!! My entry will be of the USS America aircraft carrier. I picked up a nice version to build for a friend at work, and have been doing a little online research on her; and collecting building materials (paint, etc.). I'll get a picture up of the box and sealed sprues later. EXCELLENT!!!!!
![]() EDIT: Wow, you guys are quick...I barely got done typing and submitted, and Girene and Jim O beat me to the punch! First, WOWsers Jim, that's fantastic...I had no idea about the prize. That's incredibly nice! Second, Gi-rene brings up an interesting point...I haven't had a chance to read through the entirety of the other post discussing builds here at the Zone, so apologies if this has already been answered there, but...are miniatures eligible for a build? The Flames of War need to be assembled and painted, so I can see their possible inclusion. I ask because this may be something I'd look into in the future as well, but with plastic minis that are painted and assembled to a diorama base. I wonder if this is too far away from model building, however. Last edited by Whiterook; March 16th, 2008 at 12:32 PM. Reason: Additional comment |

My participation in this groupbuild will be a T-34/85. I'll post pictures later on.

I think i'll try for two entries, one being a Sdkfz 222 desert diorama.
And well not sure yet as i'm in the middle of this KT2 diorama.

I might be able to do this one, I hope to get a camera for shots before 6 months!! I'll let you know if/when I do finally get that done.
Cheers, I like WhiteRooks idea, would that "work" to? Tom |

Re: Group Build 6 month- open class (9-1-08) $$PRIZE
As far as i'm concerned this is an open build so Flames of War stuff and
the like are all allowed.

Re: Group Build 6 month- open class (9-1-08) $$PRIZE
OK, here's my girl...the USS America aircraft carrier CV-66, Vietnam era.
![]() She was the third old gal to bear the name, and was a Kitty Hawk class supercarrier of the United States Navy. She served from 1965 - 1996. This is an old kit by ARII Plastic Model, 1:800 full hull, roughly 16.5" long X 3.75" wide. There's no date on this puppy, and the instructions are all written in Japanese, so I don't know how old the kit is; but the plastic is hard as year old bread, and will probably be a bit of a challenge in the brittle department. |
