Shige's Tiger I - Late

No dio this time, just the tank. Nice job, like the way the commander is "peeking" over the cupola rim. Zimmerit is well done also.

She's a beaut Dave and it raises a question. I've read debate about the colour that should appear under damaged zimmerit. Some say red oxide primer, others say grey. I don't know. Any thoughts guys?

Thanks Dallas but that's not mine (I wish I were that good) it's from Shige of Dr. Shige's Tank World.

Guess it would be red if the vehicle's exterior was primed, grey if not and grey if a "Hit" had removed the zimmerit, primed or not. In short, I dunno.

Re: Shige's Tiger I - Late

That's what I would have thought, but the place I read about the grey colour was in a book by a guy who's a pretty good modeller, but also describes how he makes 'zinmerit' so I wonder how much notice I should take.

Love the dings and dents...amazing stuff. I also like the cool way he chose to display it on a long board like that.

Re: Shige's Tiger I - Late

I like how he tends to get away from standard colouring when it comes to German equipment. The lack of red brown is a nice change and the faded look of the sand colour is excellent.

Re: Shige's Tiger I - Late

This guy is great with tracks too...that colour he uses is spot on. I also like the way he's made the hand painted turret number look like a small guy painted a big number rather than like a big guy painted a small number...if you follow me.

I agree, the only tracks I've seen that look as good are these, by Steve Zaloga :

Of course Shige does nice tracks too. These Churchill tracks are 'strong':
