My ongoin' Panther Ausf. G Späte build

Here's a small teaser. I start with some small parts still on the sprues.

Lookin' good McCoy. I must say I find your technique of painting (and weathering?) on the sprue fascinating. Lookin' forward to seeing more.

Thanks! It's a bit of trial n' error as it's my first ever try at the salt technique.

Re: My ongoin' Panther Ausf. G Späte build

Now I'm excited. I've never tried the salt trick but I've seen mixed results from different modellers. The best example I've seen was on Trumpeter's Br.52 Kriegslokomotiv. This is still one of the best models I've had the pleasure to see. I have a pic somewhere and I keep threatening to post it...perhaps I should get off my behind and trawl through about 250 magazines for the picture.

Loking great there mate...I too love your technique. I painted the struts for my Gotha biplane on the sprues...first time I've painted parts on the sprues...and it worked out so nicely. I highly recommend it.

Re: My ongoin' Panther Ausf. G Späte build

Well, it's natural for me to paint on the sprue considerin' that I'm not one of those buggers that own an airbrush.

But hey, if Em is paintin' on the sprues then I can't be in the wrong...

Re: My ongoin' Panther Ausf. G Späte build

What intrigues me is the thougfht of doing the final paint on the sprue (sans the tree nubs). I mean, I cn see the overall base coat, but to weather them too? Very cool indeed!
