Re: Camouflage of Panther F etc.
I'd say that all PzBeobWg V had a basecolour of dunkelgelb, some of 'em probably received additional camouflage from the crew in either one of or both dunkelgrün or rotbraun.
E-100 n' Panther F is were you're completely free as we don't know how they would have looked at the frontline. The stipulated basecolour was dunkelgrau up 'til february '43, then the basecolour was changed to dunkelgelb. The next change in basecolour came in september '44 when it was decided that the tanks should have the red primer as basecoat but this was changed late december '44 when the order came that all AFV's should have a basecolour in dunkelgrün. Most of the camouflage painting was made in the field by the crews but that changed in september '44 when the camouflage was applied at the factory.

Re: Camouflage of Panther F etc.
mccoy is pretty well close to the mark on the orders of painting of german base colours follow those and you wont be wrong as for camouflage the options are endless however as the war progressed alot of vehicles were painted from the factory depending on the factory and manufacturer depends on the paint scheme

Re: Camouflage of Panther F etc.
Remember at the time all these vehicles "would" have came into play, paint shortages were a common thing.....many units simply didn't have the paint pastes available. At this time frame...I have seen many "late War" German AFVs in every thing under the sun, from the LT Grau used as a Basecoat and in the Luftwaffe, to Panzergrau, Dunkelgelb, and some even bare metal! With the E-100, I would say the other boys are spot on.....We really don't know HOW they would have painted the big Beasts up.
As Far as yer Question on colors, you are correct. Early war= PanzerGrau About Summer of 1942= Some panzer grau, but the shift was to Dunkelgelb....with the Olivgrun, panzergrau, and Med. Rotbraun. After the summer of '42= Many units took to the "Tri-Color" Scheme.....Dunkelgelb, Med. Rotbraun, Olivgrun (Remember, these shades will VARY!!! Paint pastes, the crews used, were made by several manufacturers and the Quality Control was NOT like it is today. And then, add in the crews mixing of the pastes with whatever liquid was at hand, (from water, to gasoline to Vodka) and you get many shades of the same 3 basic color scheme. 1944= Some units began to use a Schokoladen Braun in their scheme instead of the Med.Rotbraun....common on both fronts (Some say it was one company had it's mix wrong, but that's debatable....) End of the War Period= Any of the above colors (if available) plus a LT Grau and Red Oxide and some in bare steel...... Paul and I have had MANY talks about the end war color scheme.....He too has seen pictures of the vehicles in the Lt Gray and bare steel.... =

I've seen some funky pics of vehicles partly painted with cannibalised parts from fully painted vehicles. The oxide primer in different shades and intensities...some really visually interesting combinations, but never natural steel. One can only imagine the weathering possibilities when modelling such a beast.

If memory serves, the whole of the turret and the chassis was bare steel, the vehicle had been knocked out shortly after arrival. Looked to be in a city, at the tail end of the war.......Now mind you boys, it wasn't a Bright Steel, like a dull black/gray (Very similar to the Russian tanks that rolled from the factory door to the front at Stalingrad and Leningrad.)
