‘My search for truth behind the Swastika’
‘My search for truth behind the Swastika’
31 August 2006 A retired Anglican vicar has spent the last 15 years researching the history of one of the world's most infamous symbols - the Swastika. Stephen Taylor retired from his position as the rector at All Saints Church in Little Shelford 10 years ago to concentrate on compiling his book about the symbol - otherwise known as the Fylfot Cross - to make people aware of the true meaning behind it. Mr Taylor from Whittlesford said: "My fascination with the Fylfot Cross started back in the 1960s when I visited a church in Great Canfield and saw five Swastikas carved into the stonework. "I was naturally puzzled and when the guidebook pointed me in the direction of catacombs in Rome, I was determined to find out more about the symbol. "It has been hard work, but hugely enjoyable and I have discovered that there are several possible origins for the cross, including being used as a good luck sign and a symbol of peace in ancient India."... ...To buy The Fylfot File, priced at £10 for paperback and £15 for hardback call 01223 830461 or e-mail him at stephen.taylor1935@tiscali.co.uk Full article: http://www.saffronwalden-reporter.co...2016:16:30:377

Re: ‘My search for truth behind the Swastika’
Dear Jim, the so called Swastika/Hakenkreuz is a very common symbol here in Northern Germany.
Hundreds of them you will find even nowadays, these "runes" are some kind of a standard over here, especially on old farm houses, build within the last 200 to 300 years. If you like, I will share some photos, taken by me, but as always, it needs some time, to scan all this old photo material... Regards! Michael |

Re: ‘My search for truth behind the Swastika’
Jim, the "Hakenkreuz" is a banned theme, in Germany, nowadays.
I like to share two links in german (sorry...) language. 1. http://www.dhm.de/lemo/html/nazi/inn...euz/index.html 2. http://www.shoa.de/content/view/438/41/ I think, the above links will answer most questions, if you need a translation, just let me know? Regards! Michael |

Re: ‘My search for truth behind the Swastika’
Yes, Michael, a translation would be wonderful as my German is rudimentary on a very good day.
Here is what Wiki has to say, for what it is worth: Quote:
