The War is Over!

Hello Folks,
I did'nt really know where to post this so i figured this would be the place.
I was looking at your video's section and stumbled onto the Hogans Hero's video's.
I was IMAO at the video about the "war was over".
What a great sitcom that was and posted it at my clans gaming forums.
Well another friend of mine in our clan did some research on the actors in the show and passed this information on to us all.
So i don't want to take credit for this information forwarded here.
I copied and pasted this responce by him and thought this was interesting.
I knew about Labo but not about the rest of the actors.

Robert Clary (Corporal Louis LeBeau), was deported to Buchenwald at the age of 12 with his entire family. he was the only survivor.

Werner Klemperer (Col.Klink) and his family avoided deportation to Auschwitz by fleeing the the United states in 1939.

John Banner (Sgt. Schultz) Was deported to a concentration camp earlier in the war, when it was not a guaranteed death sentence, and was able to get away before policies changed. he has been qouted as saying: "Who better to play Nazis than us Jews?".

Leon Askin (General Burkhalter) escaped a concentration camp and Nazi persecution in 1940 and made his way to America.

Howard Cohen(Major Hochstetter) fought in the pacific with the Navy during WWII

Bernard Fox (Colonel Crittendon) was in the Royal navy during the war.

and finally,

Dick Wilson, (Captain Fritz Gruber) Flew Spitfires for the Royal Canadian air force during the battle of Britain.

I thought this would be of some interest to you guys and gals...Russ
