Re: WWII references in Star Wars

I always thought it was about the British empire!!! OK. not really but why are all the baddies English??

I think Stormtrooper is a WW1 German term??

And wasn't it all based on some Japanese series, or am I thinking of something else?

The Stoßtruppen (Stormtroopers) were German World War I "shock troops". These units were formed in the last years of the war.

The Sturmabteilung were Hitler's SA. That term is also loosely translated into English as Stormtrooper though a strict translation would be "Storm division" or "Storm section".
