Stalingrad, Das Boot, Cross of Iron (the sequal was rubbish) Band of Brothers for starters.

I would have to go with "Twelve O'Clock High" with Gregory Peck and Dean Jagger. A very good drama (with some humorous moments-especially when Savage chews out Harvey Stovall for stowing away on a Fort for a mission over Germany) that's mature and realistic-a classic.
