Well, first off Jim, he is the second from the left. He was SS Gruppenfuhrer Waffen SS. He was awarded the German cross in silver and Finnish Cross of Freedom. Their is a bio on him by Mark Yerger "German cross in silver-Holders of the SS and Police" 2002.

But like I asked, can anyone tell me about the name? (Maria)
That and the wall pics were my main reason for that post.

Maria is a german name that genderwise is used by both male n' females. One famous Maria has to be Erich Maria Remarque.

Re: Carl-Maria Demelhuber

And of course it is a tribute to the Virgin Mary and/or Mars, the god of war, depending on if it's a male or a female.

The male version would be Mario in Italian, Greek, Spanish, and perhaps other languages as well. I believe it is Mark in English and Marc in French. Marius is also a related name, as is Marcus.

That's Joachim Ruoff sitting second from his left. Ruoff was his Ia when he was Divisionskommandeur, SS-Division Nord.
